On behalf of the Caribbean Netherlands Healthcare Insurance office, Mental Health Caribbean (MHC) organises psychiatric and addiction care for the islands that have belonged to the Netherlands since 10 October 2010, specifically, Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius.
We do this especially in the form of (intensive) outpatient care, and only admit patients to PAAZ in Aruba, Sint Maarten or Curaçao in cases of great urgency. The MHC works from 2 teams, one team for Saba and St. Eustatius and one team for Bonaire. In addition to adult outpatient care, the MHC offers support and care to children and adolescents, day treatment, forensic care and supervised housing. The MHC also performs prevention tasks in consultation with the public entities of St. Eustatius and Bonaire.
The MHC employs various disciplines such as psychiatric nurses, social psychiatric nurses, (child and adolescent) psychologists, (child and adolescent) psychiatrists, social workers, activity supervisors, sheltered housing supervisors, prevention workers and forensic care employees. The MHC is a separate foundation with its registered office on Bonaire.
